“Two nations separated by a common language” is a quote, attributed to George Bernard Shaw about the United Kingdom and the United States. However, it could also be said to be true of the public and private sectors.
In this two hour workshop we will draw on real world experiences from both sides, and proactively develop some easily implemented methods that can accelerate successful partnerships, increase SME engagement and improve efficiency from both sides perspective.
Running through some anonymised real world experiences, we will examine the barriers that have to be overcome from both sides, and how earlier interventions could reduce workload, whilst increasing efficiency and delivering more productive partnerships.
We will finish with a panel representing both sectors to discuss our findings and how they suggest we can work together for better outcomes.
Workshop leader Roger Hiscott has had a career in both the public and private sectors, and has spent the last 20 years as a freelance consultant working for both. He has first hand experience and sees the frustrations of both sides, and has often been the catalyst or translator, delivering outcomes when cross sector partnerships have hit a stumbling block.
